Our Story

Having close ties to the research and life science industry, we became aware of a recurring problem: Small and medium businesses as well as research groups in academia had no way to offer their products to a broad audience in a non-complicated way.

In 2021 we began to notice multiple recurring problems that occur throughout all industries.

First: Small and medium businesses as well as startups and research groups have no way to offer products to a broad audience in a non-complicated way.

Second: Excess stocks in storage cannot easily be resold, although they are urgently needed - especially in high tech industries.

Third: Overstocks (and especially leftovers in the chemical sector) are disposed of because customers cannot be reached for further use.

In July of 2022 we went ahead and founded apollum.

Franziska is a chemical biologist by training and studied at the TU Dortmund including a research stay at the Chemical Genomics Center and the Université Piere et Marie Curie in Paris. She did her doctoral studies at the Max Planck Institute for molecular physiology focusing on the field of structural biology and received her PhD in 2019.

Franziska joined the Max Planck Institute for medical research in Heidelberg in 2019 where she supports the structural analysis of biomolecular mechanisms with electron microscopy.

Prof. Dr. Tom Grossmann

Co-Founder, Scientific Advisor

Tom holds the Chair of Biomimetic Chemistry at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He studied chemistry at the Humboldt University Berlin, including undergraduate research at the University of California Berkeley.

In 2008, Tom received his PhD at the Humboldt University Berlin. After postdoctoral research at Harvard University, he became group leader at the Technical University and the Chemical Genomics Centre in Dortmund.

Since 2016, Tom is full professor at the VU Amsterdam having received funding e.g. by the European Research Council (ERC) and the Dutch Research Council (NWO).
